cny in pangkor.

today, nothing and i mean nothing can stop me from blogging about my chinese new year holidays. and i mean it.

okay. the reunion dinner wasn't really like a reunion dinner to me.
reunion dinners are where families gather at one relative's home and we cook and clean while the midgets scream and shout or running up and down the staircases tempting fate. one of these days one of them is going to fall and break something. so, our family's reunion dinner wasn't held in any of our relatives' home. we didn't cook and clean. the midgets didn't scream and shout and run up and down staircases. no. we had our reunion dinner at some restaurant. chinese restaurant. the food wasn't that good. the place wasn't that good. the company wasn't that good as well. need i say more? there are no pictures from that place. i was in such a foul mood. i think i'm going to be cursed this year. hmmm... oh, and my mom wasn't present during the reunion dinner. sad right? she was in pangkor having her own reunion dinner with her husband and his family. that night, my cousin, sister and i went out and buy a packet of cigs because we didn't want to stay home doing nothing. ah well, at least my relationship with this cousin can make it to that extent.
oh! and have you ever seen a puppy with blue eyes?? no? there'll be a picture later. (:

so the next day is the first day of chinese new year right? we went to our oldest uncle's house. our cousins are so weird you know? those that stay in the same area are very close to each other. naturally they bitch about their other cousins. i find it very amusing. for example, my cousins from singapore are very close to the cousins in ipoh. then they bitch about their other cousins who aren't close to them. i find it highly amusing that cousins ranging from the age of 19 to 25 can be that childish. haha. so, it is very common to receive and give cock stares over there. but, why sink yourself to that level right? i can be the nicer person who smiles at them while they bitch about me. lol wtf. anyway, what's chinese new year without lion dances right? lion dances used to scare the nuts out of me when i was a little girl. but now, i like them. (:
(by the way, i shall put the pictures at the ending of the post because if i put the pictures now, it fucks the whole entry up.) i find the lions insanely adorable when they have their heads down. (its the part where the dancers are peeling the orange or whatever it is they do la) and while they wink. aaaahhh..... so cute! after a while, my mom came with new dad and my sister and i had to leave. we went back to my aunty's house and pack and rest. around 5, we left for pangkor. when we arrived in pangkor, we went to my dad's home and had dinner. that dinner was way better than the darn reunion dinner. and the company was much better. dad's brother heard that my sister and i liked pugs (my sister loves them! i just like them a little. heehee) and of he went to their neighbour's home and brought the pug back. lol. she's so adorable and large. haha. i swear that she has a little crazed look when we carry her. she's insanely heavy as well. her name's sasa. haha. :D so adorable. ((: and the same uncle who brought sasa back to the house has a baby called zhi hao. omg wtf he's so freaking adorable!!! you know how babies normally don't trust outsiders and wouldn't allow any random person carry them unless its someone they're familiar with right? zhi hao lets anyone in the family carry him! haha. so cute!
that night, when we reached the apartment we were staying in, my cousin, my cousin brother, my sister and i went out to the beach and smoke. since it was still cny, some chinese-y people were letting off fireworks. it was so relaxing to just have a smoke and hear the waves crash and have a nice breeze blowing about. (:

the next day, we went sightseeing. we took this package thing where a tour guide will take us around the island and show us the attractions there. (: first, we were taken to one part of the sea where he says is dangerous to swim because of the current. then he showed us a type of coral that feels like chicken feet to the hand. haha. and he also showed us a sea cucumber which started to expand and white stuff started leaking out of it. that cucumber leaves little room for imagination. you just think what you have to think when you see stuff leaking out of it. and, it was sticky. wtf.
then we went to marina bay where the chalets there can cost you up 300,000 dollars. the ones where you rent on the other hand, is much cheaper. the small ones can cost you about 1000 i think and the bigger ones can cost about 3000 i think. i can't really remember the pricing la. but i do remember this. one plate of fried rice is about 50 dollars and a glass of orange juice is 20 dollars. the tour guide said that its for the foreigners to stay in. and also, instead of driving to lumut and taking the ferry to pangkor, you can actually fly to pangkor straight. in a helicopter. there's a helicopter pad at marina bay. then we went to turtle beach. i have no idea why they call it turtle beach. maybe its because of the rock that was shaped like a turtle. up ahead after turtle beach, there's this little beach where the sand is brown on the left and grey on the right. :D there was also a rock shaped like an apple! a half eaten apple. :D oh, and the monkeys on turtle beach can actually swim! omg wtf.
after all that, we went snorkelling! it was fun fun fun! :D we saw sea urchins, different species of fish, corals and the water is very salty. yech. if only i have the underwater camera. ): after snorkelling, we got back into the boat. the tour guide showed us this one particular part where there are no soil and nothing at all. but, two trees are flourishing there. they are of the same height and the same size. they call it the lovers' tree and beside it, another tree which they call the 'spotlight'. lol.
after all that, we went back to the island and had lunch and then it was time to head back to the apartment for cleaning up and packing. all too soon, we had to go back to ipoh to drop my cousins and then it was back to kl. and did you know that all of these things we did was without my mom?
it barely felt like chinese new year.
oh yeah, before we headed onto the boat for sightseeing, we met a guy who caught an octopus. lol. cute but slimy. can you believe that just two days of parking the car in lumut actually invited a spider to make its home on my window? lol.
and my sister bought a big beach hat. lol. i look like an idiot whenever i wear it.
that was it about my chinese new year. (:
here you go, pictures.
